Description

Easy Ham Quiche: Savory ham, creamy cheese, and fluffy eggs in a quick and comforting quiche perfect for crowd-pleasing meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (refrigerated or frozen, thawed) or homemade pastry
  • 1 tablespoon butter for greasing (optional if using non-stick pan)
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup (about 6oz/170g) diced ham (use leftover holiday ham or deli ham)
  • 1 cup (4oz/113g) shredded cheese (Swiss, Gruyère, or cheddar work beautifully)
  • 1/4 cup (40g) finely diced onion
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (freshly grated is best)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Crust Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a store-bought crust, let it come to room temperature according to package directions. Gently unroll or place the crust into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it firmly against the bottom and sides. Crimp the edges decoratively using your fingers or a fork. Prick the bottom several times with a fork to prevent bubbling.
  2. Step 2: Blind Bake Line your crust with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove the weights and paper and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the crust is just beginning to color. Remove from oven and reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Step 3: Prepare the Filling While the crust bakes, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream in a large bowl until well combined. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg, then whisk again until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy. This incorporation of air helps create that perfect quiche texture.
  4. Step 4: Add Mix-ins Sprinkle half the cheese evenly over the bottom of the partially baked crust. Distribute the diced ham and onions evenly on top of the cheese layer. This layering technique ensures even distribution of fillings throughout your Easy Ham Quiche Recipe.
  5. Step 5: Assemble and Bake Carefully pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese. Sprinkle the remaining cheese and the chopped chives on top. Place the quiche on a baking sheet (to catch any potential overflow) and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is just set but still has a slight jiggle.
  6. Step 6: Rest and Serve Allow your beautiful ham quiche to rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This resting period allows the custard to fully set, making for cleaner, more beautiful slices. Serve warm or at room temperature for the best flavor experience.
