Description

One Pan Balsamic Chicken – Juicy chicken cooked in tangy balsamic glaze with vegetables. Quick, easy, and flavor-packed dinner for all.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 68 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar (high-quality for best results)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced (about 1 cup)
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced (about 1 cup)
  • 1 small red onion, sliced (about ¾ cup)
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (about ¼ cup chopped)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the chicken by patting it dry with paper towels and seasoning generously with salt and pepper on both sides. This crucial step ensures a beautiful sear and well-seasoned One Pan Balsamic Chicken.
  2. Step 2: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the chicken breasts and sear for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and nearly cooked through (internal temperature should reach about 155°F as it will continue cooking). Transfer the chicken to a plate and tent loosely with foil.
  3. Step 3: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften but still maintain some crispness. Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
  4. Step 4: Pour the balsamic vinegar and honey into the pan, using a wooden spoon to scrape up any flavorful browned bits from the bottom of the pan. These bits contain concentrated flavor that will enhance your sauce. Add the Italian seasoning and stir to combine.
  5. Step 5: Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the balsamic mixture for 2-3 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly. Add the cherry tomatoes and cook for another minute just to warm them through while maintaining their shape.
  6. Step 6: Return the chicken to the pan, nestling it among the vegetables. Spoon some of the sauce over the chicken and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the sauce has reduced to a glossy glaze.
  7. Step 7: Remove your One Pan Balsamic Chicken from heat and let it rest for 2 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken. Garnish with fresh basil just before serving to add a bright, aromatic finish to your dish.

Notes

Fresh ingredients will always yield the best flavor results.
